Learners achieved competency in participating in makahiki games, and creating makahiki kits for use at schools throughout the West Kauaʻi school complex.

Each day of the program, participants were introduced to a different makahiki game and associated rules, strategy, and huaʻōlelo. Participants were then given time to compete against each other to gain hands on experience in the game of the day. Following competition, participants were given opportunities to build their own implements including ʻulu maika, ihe, and moa paheʻe.
