Program Information:

Mālama Loko ea Foundation will to engage Kindergarten to high school students, and ohana specifically native Hawaiian students, from the moku of Waialua of O‘ahu, to learn about the ʻāina momona of Waialua which was once considered the poi bowl (breadbasket) of Oʻahu. 


Students will engage in loko iʻa (fishpond) restoration, ahupuaʻa management—environmental conservation of the mauka (toward the mountain) and makai (toward the sea) resources in the ahupuaʻa of Kawailoa. 


MLEF will invite students from within the moku of Waialua—specifically Haleʻiwa Elementary, Waialua Elementary and Sunset Elementary to participate in a week-long camp based in bio-cultural, alohaʻ ʻāina, community-based ecosystem projects using interdisciplinary lessons.
