Kawaikini Hemolele i ka Mālie

Summer 2023

K-2, 3-5, 6-8

Program Information:

During the summer break, we will provide opportunities for Kawaikini haumāna, especially vulnerable learners, to continue learning with an emphasis on place-based, hands on experiences, and ʻāina based community service projects, MA KA ʻŌLELO HAWAIʻI. 


During the five week program, we will focus on science based or culture based activities, including: gardening, planting, weeding, kilo, science experiments (observe, hypothesis, prediction, test, results), arts and crafts (hula, oli, weaving, etc.), and character development. 


Off campus days are spent on field work trips to different moku to conduct community service projects to include: ocean clean up, plant and animal analysis, fishpond work, water testing, hiking, reef observations, taro field work, and history.

 

Program will be held from Monday, June 5 thru Thursday July 7, 2023, from 8am - 3pm.
