The Kāneʻohe Extended Enrichment program AKA Summer Sandbox successfully engaged students in project-based learning experiences infused with connections to Native Hawaiian culture, ōlelo Hawaiʻi, and indigenous practices. Students learned that by applying these lessons and teaching their ohana, they are leaders in their community who can contribute greatly to our sustainability and prospering. After this experience, many students and several parents noted a strengthened sense of knowledge of the aina which they call home and requested these types of learning experiences continue during the school year.
