Our participants learned what it takes to restore a loko iʻa given the current conditions. Our participants learned traditional oli, mele, and pule associated with Heʻeia and fishponds. They received understanding of cultural values and practiced ceremony. They learned how to uhau humu pohaku, and construct a hale. They grew as a team and exhibited leadership skills within the community. Our summer interns learned about ahupuaʻa land management and sustainable fishing harvest. They learned principles of resourcefulness and the value of working ʻāina to feed yourself.
